i’ve always been fond of reading greek mythology. been an avid fan of hercules. i even got my [now disgusting] e-mail add from Zeus’ thunderbolt. ana ko ka-fanatic, but twas before that i wasn’t busy yet. ummm… i’ve read Edith Hamilton’s book on Mythology. Nice pocketbook.

The story that caught my interest was that of Psyche’s and Cupid’s lovestory. Psyche was a daughter of a mortal. She was very beautiful, even more than "hubag" than Venus. As you know, Venus was Cupid’s mom. She’s Aphrodite sa Greek mythology. Venus got envious of Psyche, coz instead of her, people adored Psyche more.

Kay nagminasi mn si Iya. She ordered her son, Cupid, to make Psyche fall in love with a hideous monster. Ambot unsa na na monster basta pangit. But, unfortunately, Cupid, himself got caught off guard by Psyche’s alluring beauty. Og sa dihang na-in love ang tig-pana.

Venus got angry of course. But then, itinanan pa rin ni CUpid si Psyche. They lived together, but Cupid strictly forbade Psyche never to look at his face or basta glance at him. Though curious of how her husband looked like, Psyche did as what she was told.

Yet Venus, still angry, made a plot against Psyche. She used Psyche’s sister. Sis asked Psyche how Cupid looked like, but Psyche got no answer to that question. Sis made Psyche think of reasons why, until Psyche decided na wala naman cguro masama kung tingnan nya mukha ni Cupid. One night (gabi lng umuuwi ng bahay si Cupid), after they made love, Psyche reached out for the lamp beside her and got a look at her husband’s handsome face.

But Cupid woke up. He was very furious that Psyche disobeyed him. Cupid said he did not think they should live together still knowing Psyche "did not" trust him.

For many years, Psyche endured all the pain, being abandoned by her love. Until she asked Venus for help. Venus, as calculating as always, made a pact with Psyche. If Psyche would be able to surmount all the obstacles that she’ll give, Psyche would have Cupid back.

Chuva na daun. Short cut. Psyche succeeded. She got her Cupid back. And the usual ending…AND THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER…

which for me is bullshit! i really hate happy endings like this. one of those full of crap stories. i like A WALK TO REMEMBER better. at least dun, namatay si Mandy Moore. Much more realistic. I got my own Cupid too, but he’s now gone forever. Well, actually sa simula pa lng…wala na.

I still got an aching back… sakit ako lawas… my head… my shoulder… my legs… my feet… wawa naman ako… but i believe it’s worth it. happy au ko adtong Sunday (my only rest day from work).
